FAQs

"I’ve never opened up to anyone about this. I’m used to dealing with things on my own. Isn’t therapy just for people who are weak?"

Not at all. Seeking help is a sign of strength. It takes courage to recognize when support is needed. Everyone faces challenges at times. In our work together, I’ll help you tap into your strengths and show you how to use them to navigate and lessen the impact of the difficulties you’re going through.

What’s the difference between talking to you or my best friend or family?

The difference is between someone who can offer support and someone who has the professional training and experience to guide you through it. A mental health professional can help you see your situation from a new perspective, teach you valuable skills, and listen without judgment or expectations, helping you connect with your own thoughts and feelings. Additionally, counseling is completely confidential, so you won’t have to worry about your personal life being shared. Finally, if your situation stirs up intense emotions and you've been confiding in a friend or family member, there’s a risk that once you start feeling better, you may avoid that person to avoid being reminded of the difficult time you’ve been through.

Why not just take medication?

While medication can be helpful, it doesn't address all of the underlying issues. In many cases, medication works best when combined with counseling. Our work together will focus on understanding the challenges you're facing, while also building on your strengths to help you achieve your personal goals.

How does it work? What will I do in sessions?

Every person’s situation is unique, so the approach will vary based on your specific needs and goals. Customizing the therapeutic model to fit your individual circumstances, ensures a tailored approach to your journey.

How long will it take?

It’s difficult to provide a specific timeline, as each person’s situation is unique. The duration of counseling depends on factors such as your personal goals, your commitment to the process, and the reasons you’re seeking support. Everyone’s journey is different, and we’ll work at a pace that suits your needs.

I want to get the most out of therapy. What can I do to help?
